A role model, someone to talk too, a reference for a job and Cabrini’s biggest sports fan. Brad Koch does it all for the Cabrini Cavaliers.
Brad Koch is going into his eighth year as Cabrini’s athletic director. Since Koch has been here, his programs have won 47 Colonial States Athletic Conference, Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, Atlantic East championships and appeared in 39 NCAA Tournaments tournament appearances, including a national title in men’s lacrosse in 2019. While the women’s lacrosse team claimed the school’s first Eastern College Athletic Conference crown. Cabrini Athletics contains 19 collegiate teams and over 350 student-athletes. Before coming to Cabrini, Koch was the Associate Director of Athletics at Philadelphia University for seven years.
Koch gives much praise to his staff and coaches that come to work every day and work hard.
“Without them, we wouldn’t have had the success we had in the eight years I have been here. It also helps to have coaches that want to coach here endlessly. To not have to rebuild with new coaches is a luxury. It takes a lot to manage the little village we have, but with all the coaches being able to collaborate with one another, it makes things go much smoother,” Koch said.
Being an athletic director of a successful college athletic program takes a lot. So much responsibility to be given to one person. However with help and people like Kate Corcoran, assistant athletic director praising Koch, Cabrini is in great hands.
“Brad has a very positive impact on student-athletes. He invested in a strength and conditioning coach for Cabrini to keep our student-athletes healthy and in great shape. He also wanted to change conferences to improve the competition Cabrini plays in for all sports. He is a man for the students. He loves to see them succeed on and off the field. His door is always open for anyone to come talk,” Corcoran explains.
Koch is a huge advocate of the Division 3 vision. He wants his student-athletes to be active in the community and give back every chance they get.
For the next five to seven years, Koch looks to keep improving the athletic facilities of Cabrini. With so much that has been added, he plans to add more of a Division I facility in Division III athletics program.
“I want us to continue the success we have had over the past years. I want to retain the coaches, staff and all 19 sports with more to add in the future. With more sports means more staff, but we will get there. Possibly another gym, turf on the secondary field and more seating for both inside and outside stadiums. It’s all a process, but we are on the right path and I’m excited for what’s to come.”
With high hopes for the other 18 teams to bring home a national championship, Brad Koch has the right plan for Cabrini Athletics.
