The 45th Academy of Country Music Awards were held Sunday, April ??, in the majestic MGM Grand in Las Vegas. The awards are all decided by members of the academy and only the entertainer of the year was voted on by fans.
The ACM’s were relatively calm compared to other award ceremonies. There were no sudden appearances by unwanted singers or interruptions of the kind. The ACM carried out the reason of award shows. There were amazing performances, deserving winners and one final show from a truly great band.
One name called on many occasions was that of popular band, Lady Antebellum. They stole the show by winning five awards, single record of the year as both artist and producers, song of the year again as both artist and producers and finally top vocal group.
This trio was formed in Nashville in 2006 and has had hits such as “Love don’t live here”, “I run to you” and “Need you now.” They have won before at the ACM’s back in 2008 they won Top new duo or group.
Another big winner was Carrie Underwood. She took away entertainer of the year, her second time winning the award and just the seventh woman to claim the award and the first to do it twice. Underwood also won the covenant Triple Crown award. This is in due to her past wins of Entertainer of the Year, Top Female Vocalist and Top New Female Vocalist. Only one other female artist has won the award, Barbara Mandrell in 2004.
Brad Paisley extended his reign of power as top male vocalist of the year winning his fourth consecutive award. Paisley is the only person to accomplish this feat.
With all of the happiness came the end of an era. Brooks and Dunn have announced that they will officially be parting ways. Kix Brooks and Ronnie Dunn first got together in 1991 after being singer/song writers and each producing singles in the late 1980s. Together they have been winning awards, topping the charts and continue to be very popular country sensation since their first album in 1991.
They have won an amazing 27 Academy of Country Music Awards. This is easily the most of any artist in the Academies history.
The academy will be honoring Brooks and Dunn at their last performance, ACM Presents: Brooks and Dunn- The Last Rodeo on Sunday, May 23.
