Every college student needs money right? Students are already getting killed with loans, book costs and access codes.  Students have the option to work on campus at in the Dixon Center. It is one of many work-study jobs on campus. Each year a student works in the same department, their hourly wage goes up.

“It’s good, It’s good quick money for a college student,” Nadya Gibson said. “We get to pick our own hours and is really flexible with my dance and basketball schedule.”

Gibson is still an A student even while working a lot of hours in the Dixon Center. She still loves to dance, which is her passion. Nadya is also the women’s basketball manager.

“I have a lot on my plate but I love the extra money,” she said.

Rob Dallas, head soccer coach, runs the front desk in the Dixon Center.

“I love being able to let these students work and make a little money on the side,” he said. “I know it is hard to have classes, homework and a job so I let them very flexible with their hours. They actually pick their own hours.”

“The money is real good. I sit down at the desk and don’t really have to move that much,” Kirsten Searcy said. “I think working the front desk in Dixon is pretty cool. I sit down most of the time and I can still do my homework.”

Money can be tight for college students and it can be hard to make money on the side or even have a real part-time job. You need time to do your homework, study and even sleep.

“Working here is cool, I make money just to have in my pocket,”  soccer player Nick Booth said. Sometimes it I wish we made a little more money because us college students are broke but it still ok money.”

Booth said he’s been working ever since he got to Cabrini, the one thing he likes is the pay goes up every year.

“It doesn’t get in the way of soccer or school, I still have time to do everything I need or want to do,” he said. “We make our own hours for the most part so its very flexible.”
