“On the Spot” ate, slept and dreamt comedy. Cabrini’s improv troop, “On the Spot” embarked on a mission. Last weekend 11 members of the troop traveled via Cabrini van to Saratoga, N.Y. They left Friday at 9a.m. for their five-to-six hour drive. Skidmore University hosted improv troops from 18 different colleges.

This is “On the Spot’s” third year participating in this festival. It ran both Friday and Saturday. Here the improv troops learned new games, skits, warm-ups and meet new people. They will also be going to workshops to learn how to improve their comedic skills.

According to Matt Holmes, “It brings the group together.” Here the 11-person comedy troop became like family; they spent the weekend together bonding as well as learning.

Though “On the Spot” has many skits and their own warm-up games, they want to learn more. Five of the members have participated in this festival before but there are many new members to the troop that have not. They are all looking forward to this exciting experience.

Kevin McDonald, from the show “Kids in the Hall,” was one of the most famous people there teaching the troops new techniques to get the crowds into their shows..

The members of On the Spot are: seniors Toni Barrett and Lisa Finegan; juniors Matt Holmes, Tina Hadley, and Jess Snow; sophomores Kit Dewey and Matt Coughlin; and first-year students Katie Hernson, and Haven McMickle.
