Forrest Theatre’s production of Disney’s “Beauty and the Beast” was available to Cabrini students on Friday Nov.15. Student activities arranged it so that Cabrini students had transportation to the theater and were able to partake in the thrilling show and experience of live theater. Students had the chance to get off campus for a bit and have the chance to relive a beloved story from their childhood.
Disney’s Beauty and the Beast has been a long time success. The story of Belle a beautiful peasant girl yearning for a life far more interesting and exiting then her small town can provide, meets a sullen and distant prince who under the influence of a spell has taken the form of a hideous beast. With the help of a few friends along the way a bond is formed between Belle and the Beast. The story of their friendship which eventually develops into a deep respect and love for one and other has captured the hearts of many.
Disney’s first venture with the story was with the movie, which was later followed up by a play. Sophomore Melissa Raucci saw the production at Forrest Theaters with Cabrini “I have loved the story of Beauty and the Beast since I was a little girl, I love going to the theater but seeing a play take the form of a beloved childhood story was especially thrilling and exciting to me.”
Sophomore Kathleen Sweeney accompanied Raucci to the play her thoughts were “The music was beautiful I found myself singing along with the actors, I especially enjoyed hearing the new songs written just for the play which were not in the movie version.
All of the tickets allotted to Cabrini were sold out for the show. “Everyone left the theater with a positive attitude, this story of inner beauty captures the hearts of everyone,” said Raucci.
