Relationships in today’s day are not the same as they used to be. With the rapid growth and obsession with social media, conflicts in relationships have escalated to another level.

Along with the lack of loyalty progressively happening in relationships, more and more couples struggle for a future.

Women in relationships on campus have witnessed or experienced being hit on on by a guy on campus.

“My friend actually had that happen to her and ended up getting into a fist fight when the boy’s girlfriend found out about the situation,” freshman, Brittany Woodruff said.

Many fights between lovers have been started just because of their significant other liking another person’s Instagram picture.

When twenty students were asked “How do you feel about guys with girlfriends liking other girls pictures?” sixteen students agreed that there is nothing wrong with it.

The students that are currently in a relationship expressed setting a few relationship rules would be beneficial. Among some of the rules, not liking other girl’s pictures, made the list.

However, majority of students said that relationships do not need to have rules, especially when it comes to Instagram activity.

“I feel like just because I’m in a relationship with someone that doesn’t mean I can’t acknowledge the fact that another girl is pretty,” ophomore Luke Bencivenga said. “There’s no reason why I can’t just call a girl pretty or like a picture, it doesn’t even matter.”

“Having friendships with other people while in a relationship should definitely be allowed, just because somebody’s in a relationship does not mean they cannot talk to anyone else but their significant other,” women’s soccer player, Brittany Runyen said.

The “we are just friends” card seems to be pulled too often, so how do you define the line between flirting and being a friend in a relationship?

“Your girlfriend should definitely know who that other girl is,” sophomore Jen Niskala said. “Friendship means they should not be texting everyday. They should be more of an acquaintance, but talking with each other in class is fine”
