Love, Tanya

Tanya Burr,  25 year-old Youtube star, has released her first book on January 29. Shortly after completing sixth form at Notre Dame and doing a course on make-up, she aspired to be a make-up artist. She got a job as a make-up artist at Jarrold’s department store and began to post tutorials on her self titled Youtube channel. She started out by posting make up tutorials to mimic celebrity looks which eventually expanded to beauty hauls and daily vlogs of her personal life.

With 2 million subscribers on her personal channel as of August 2014 and 130 million views, Burr’s handle on the Youtube scene is strong.

On social media, she dominates as well with 900k followers on Twitter and over 1 million on Instagram. She is considered influential through social media and affluent on the British entertainment scene. As well as conquering the internet scene, Burr is currently working on the fashion and literary world. Her book is doing well currently, with hundreds of fans turning up at a book signing only a few days ago in England.

In 2014, Burr released a line of cosmetics that can be found at drugstores all over England. She had been working on the line for over 18 months before it was able to be released. According to a blog post from Tanya, she wanted to be able to name the lipstick and nail polish colors after the things that she enjoys in her life. Names include “Heart Skipped A Beat” and “Vampire Kiss”, which is inspired by the beauty vlogger’s self-proclaimed obsession with all things vampire.

“Love, Tanya” is all about the star’s journey with her rising fame and finding herself in the process. In the book, she talks about how she became comfortable in her own skin and happy with who she has become. She reveals her top beauty tips and tricks to her readers, as well as providing space for feedback and interaction.

Girl Online

Internet celebrity Zoe Sugg released her first book “Girl Online” on November 25, 2014. As of December 2014, “Girl Online” was the fastest selling book of the year and also broke the first week book sales since the records have been kept.

The romance and drama novel focuses on a sixteen year-old girl who anonymously blogs her thoughts and struggles online. She meets a boy named Noah at a wedding that her mother caters and they fall in love. Through a serious of events, her identity online is revealed and she must deal with the consequences of being visible online. She also plays with the concept of dealing with stress and anxiety in the spotlight as well as online.

Zoe herself has said that the storyline is based on fictional characters and a plot line but there are some similarities to her real life story. She also has been publicly accused of ghost writing, which she responded to by saying that everyone needs help when trying something new. The book is specifically geared for tweens and teens so therefore the reading level is pretty basic.

Zoe, who goes by Zoella online, has been taking the British media scene by storm. With an award at the BBC radio music awards, record breaking sales on her book and cosmetics line, and millions of views on her weekly videos, she is a force to be reckoned with.

Currently based in Brighton with her boyfriend, Alfie Deyes, Zoe is originally from Wiltshire. On her famous Youtube channel, Zoella, she discusses fashion, beauty and products. She also vlogs, blogs and films weekly videos. Her #askzoella is popular on Twitter, which often trends when Zoe announces that she will be filming an ask and answer video. The sequel to “Girl Online” is expected in summer 2015.
