New coach, new members, new challenges, no problem.

In a situation where most may be afraid to step up into a leader position, the captains of the cheerleading team see a time of adversity as a time of opportunity.

“I have no concerns regarding our new team because we are all on the same page, putting our best foot forward,” Taylor Thomas, team co-captain, said.

Thomas also shares the role of captain with Brittany Jones.

Thomas says responsibility has not changed much being captains and that the duo took the new squad of cheerleaders head on.

Despite losing teammates last year, Thomas expressed no hard feelings for former members and has embraced the newest members of the team.

“It allowed us to get a fresh start,” Thomas said. “Honestly, we are looking the best that we have ever looked since my freshman year.”

Thomas also shared words of excitement about the new addition of the coach.

“I am ecstatic about having a new coach,” Thomas said. 22

She went on to say the team has put a lot of time and effort into learning the cheers and put on an amazing Havoc routine.

The captains look forward to accomplishing many things as a new team this year and are well on the road to doing just that.

“We want to make a new name for ourselves and as of Halloween Havoc night I think we have done so,” Thomas said.

The cheerleaders attend all of the home games for the men’s basketball and majority of the women’s basketball home games also. Other events include Cabrini Day at the Phillies, homecoming parade and showing support at other various sports games.

The team is currently made up of 16 active cheerleaders.

With Havoc night behind them, the focus is on basketball games. Thomas looks forward to putting on a show for those in attendance.

“You should be looking forward to seeing a great group of young talented ladies with Cabrini spirit ready to showcase our talents and cheer our teams to victory,” Thomas said.
