And so ends my journey as an editor for the Loquitur.  I have been part of the staff of the Loquitur for two years–one as a reporter and assistant perspectives editor and one as the editor in chief.  I have seen both sides of the Loquitur–a reporter and editor and I have to admit, I am not sure which one I like more.

What I am certain of is that I have the Loquitur to thank for my new family.  Being an editor, I worked with many people but within the editing staff, we have all gotten to know each other more.  From pop-up meetings to late-night stressed-out phone calls, I will never forget my time working for the Loquitur and being able to share my experience with my close friends.

So to all the editors on the Loquitur: thank you.

Faith: You were honestly the light of the Loquitur.  You took every stressed-out situation and found a way to make us all laugh and take a minute to relax. Thank you for keeping us smiling and finding the light in every small inconvenience!

Megan: You held this entire group of editors together!  Not just editors, reporters too!  You knew exactly what you were doing this entire year and planned ahead for everything.  If it wasn’t for you, we wouldn’t know what to do.

Layal: You absolutely crushed the lifestyles section this year!  Considering you were the only editor, you stayed on top of pitches, story ideas, editing and your own stories!  You had some amazing stories this year that got the attention of many people online. Thank you for your hard work and always hopping on zoom for any pop-up meetings!

Lauren: Even from another state, you rocked the perspectives section!  You always stayed on top of stories and editing.  I loved seeing your pets in the zoom meetings and classes we had and thank you for making that drive to spend a day with us in the newsroom!

Gabby: Always prepared for basecamp nights, you always had story ideas ready to go for anyone who did not pitch!  You also had some great ideas for the newspaper and even hopped on zoom for any pop-up meeting.  Thank you for your hard work this year!

America: Finishing your senior year strong with the Loquitur!  I hope I didn’t make it stressful for you!  Thank you for always giving your ideas on different stories and pitches. I wish you all the best for your future!

Kevin: You nailed the sports section this year!  After the fall semester with your partner not returning, you stepped it up big time!  With all the sports stories coming in, story ideas to come up with and your own stories to write, you stayed on top of everything in journalism.  Thank you for your hard work and dedication toward the Loquitur!

Ty: Even though it was a short year for you, you will always be considered part of our family.  There wasn’t a time where anyone questioned if you were still part of the Loquitur.  Yes, you were, always.  We missed you the second half of the year but I’m glad to hear you are doing better.

Miranda: There are not enough ‘thank you’s” for all those late-night layouts you have completed with us.  But you have to admit, some of them were fun!  Congratulations on graduating, and I wish you all the best in your future!

JZ: It has certainly been a pleasure working with you, JZ.  You have taught me so much about being an editor and how to take charge.  You pushed, not only me, but also everyone in journalism to write good stories and be a good reporter and editor.  Thank you for your dedication and commitment to the Loquitur.

Jill: Even though we only met once a week, you have helped us see the Loquitur in a visual way.  You helped us take stories and make them into multimedia stories.  Not to mention, you also helped us make decisions on bigger ideas we had for the paper and website.  Thank you so much!

And to all the new editors coming in next semester, I hope you find the same connection as we did this year. You will find some stressful times during your journey, but you will learn and grow from them.  Good luck to all of you!
