The Cabrini Activity Programming (CAP) Board’s Welcome Back Week is just getting into full swing and is already having a great turn out.
Tuesday night, students brought their blankets to the back lawn of the mansion to enjoy a drive-in style movie event.
Before the movie started, students enjoyed listening to music and had the chance to learn how to tie-dye t-shirts.
“It was my first time ever tie-dying and it was a great experience,” senior Sarah Davis said.
Davis and her roommate, senior Melissa Matsanka, were really glad they attended the event together.
“I am really thrilled that CAP Board planned this night,” Davis said.
As it got darker, students grabbed some freshly made popcorn and settled on their blankets waiting for the movie to begin.
The movie selected for the night was Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The hangout was a great way for everyone to relax with friends and enjoy a night out away from the stressful first few days of classes.
Junior Jack Dunleavy heard it would be a cool movie and met up with his friends to enjoy spending time outside during these last few days of summer.
“It is really cool that they set it up as an old-school drive-in movie in the back of the mansion,” Dunleavy said. “I also am really looking forward to CAP Board’s event on Wednesday to see the magician.”
The Cap Board staff took time out this summer to plan out the events for Welcome Week. They wanted to make it full of fun and memorable activities for students.
Setting up the events is a lot of work. The Cap Board committee has to call outside vendors, determine costs and confirm event dates months in advanced.
CAP Board’s director of on-stage events this semester, Maricia Marchetta, has enjoyed planning this weeks events and watching them unfold.
With all the hard work that goes into planning these events, CAP Board hopes for big turnouts at their events this semester.
There are still three days of welcome week events to go, including Juggling Magician Ivan Pecel, the CommUNITY BBQ and Larger Than Life Games & Inflatables.
Awesome job Emily!!
