The Cabrini men’s soccer team (9-1-3) took Neumann University (2-7-2) into double overtime, which resulted in a stalemate between the two conference powerhouses. The final score read zero to zero, but the score does not tell the whole story of the game.
“We had the majority of the shots and the majority of possession,” Kyle Chevalier, junior defender, said. “I feel we deserved more than one point, but sometimes that’s how soccer works.”
The Cavaliers, who are the highest scoring team currently in the Colonial State Athletic Conference (CSAC), outshot the Knights 18 to 11 but the score still showed no change after over 100 minutes played. Coach Rob Dallas and center midfielder Ben Roda were not pleased with the team’s finishing ability.
“We need to attack the ball more, especially when it is in the air and position ourselves better in the 18 to give us the best chance to get the ball in the back of the net,” Ben Roda, sophomore midfielder, said.
“We have to be more dangerous on restarts all season.. that is something we have been struggling with,” head coach, Rob Dallas, said. “We are getting good service but, not always being dangerous on the other end of the ball, so it is something we will be working on going forward this week.”
Cabrini seemed to have the advantage on the offensive end with more shots, restarts and shots on goal, but the goalkeepers both played outstanding games.
“The back four are working well together as a unit and CJ had been playing really well in net, but all 11 guys are working hard for each other on defense,” Chevalier said.“Neumann did a great job tonight they are a very good team and they also earned the point and hopefully we can take this and build on it for our game Saturday against Marywood,” Dallas said.
