Basketball season is quickly approaching, which means it is time for the players to start preparing for the season.

“We look really good and I am excited for the season,” Anthony Linder, freshman center, said. I came to a game last year and the atmosphere was amazing and I can’t wait to play with my teammates.”

The men’s basketball team is quickly getting in shape for their season with a much younger team including seven new freshmen and only one senior player. Head coach Tim McDonald will be returning to get the team working together.

The Cavs went 13-5 in the CSAC conference and 17-10 overall during their 2014-15 season. The Cavs also won the Battle of Eagle Road against Eastern University last year and expect to win again.

“We should go further than last year,” Tyheim Monroe, sophomore forward, said.

The men’s team will start off their season in Carlisle, P.A. against Dickinson college on Saturday, Nov. 14 at 7 p.m.

“Skill wise we have gotten better. As a team we are more of a unit,” Jordan Brooks, sophomore forward, said.

The men’s team was knocked out of the 2015 CSAC championship by Neumann University by one point but hope to go further in the championship this year.

The Lady Cavs are also warming up for their 2015-16 basketball season.

“Our goal this year is to win another CSAC championship and make it four in a row,” Kristina Startare, senior forward, said.

Women’s basketball was undefeated in last year’s CSAC conference and ended the 2014-15 season with a 24-4 record. The Lady Cavs made it to the NCAA tournament last year and hope to go further than the first round this season.

The Lady Cavs are starting their season with a roster that includes five freshmen and four senior players with Kate Pearson returning as head coach.

“It is my last season so I want to do anything I can to help our team win,” Startare said. “Last year we lost two players to graduation who were a huge part of our team, but we returned with a couple of key players who will help us out this year.”

The Lady Cavs lost their game in the Battle of Eagle Road against Eastern University last year but hope to open their season with a win this year.

Cabrini women’s basketball will open their season against Eastern University in St. Davids, P.A. on Tuesday, Nov. 17 at 6 p.m.
