The decision of what road to travel after high school graduation was a tough one for William Charles Cordts Jr. This would be the first time that he and twin brother Brian would be separated since birth. Cordts had been recruited to play football by a few state schools in N.Y., while his twin Brian was being heavily recruited to play lacrosse. “Cabrini was looking at Brian, and I had not ruled out playing lacrosse in college, I decided that it would be best to stick together,” Cordts said.

Cordts began playing lacrosse his freshman year of high school at Northport Senior High, in East Northport, NY. He began his lacrosse career as an attackman for the junior varsity program. Following two years on JV, Cordts moved up to varsity and also switched from the offensive to the defense end of the field as a close defenseman. The offensive mindset shows on the field as Cordts leads fellow defensive players with four goals this season.

Ranked as low as nine in the Men’s Division III College Coaches Poll, Cabrini’s Men’s lacrosse team has made a name for themselves. “We have no superstars. We work together to generate success. When all cylinders are running together, we are unstoppable,” Cordts said.

Cordts’s credits his family with supporting him throughout his freshmen year. His family has traveled the east coast over the past three months to support him from the stands. Cordts said, “My parents have not missed a game yet. It helps me so much having them there.”

Cordts twin, Brian attended Cabrini first semester, but took the second semester of school off. “I’m working on getting him [Brian] back for next year. I love having him around,” Cordts said.
