Semifinal-Tuesday, November 4, 2003

Christine Watson scored on a penalty kick four minutes into
the second half, and Melissa Williams made three saves as Cabrini
College(12-6-3) defeated Eastern University (14-4-2), 1-0, in a PAC
Semifinal on Tuesday. The win was Cabrini’s first over Eastern since 2000,
and their first playoff victory since 1998.
The fourth-seeded Lady Cavaliers advance to the PAC Championship Game
on Saturday at Gwynedd-Mercy College at 1 p.m.
After Williams made a save on a shot by Eastern early in the second
half, her wind-aided punt bounced once on Eastern’s half of the field and was
controlled by Watson, who carried the ball into the box and was tripped
from behind. Her penalty kick found the right corner of the net to give Cabrini
the lead.
Eastern, the top seed in the PAC Tournament, threatened a few times in
the final 40 minutes, but Cabrini’s defense kept them off the scoreboard.
Eastern outshot Cabrini 8-4 on the day. Eastern’s Alison LeCesse
made two saves on the day.
Cabrini will be playing in its fifth PAC Championship Game and first
since 1998. The Lady Cavs won the PAC Championship in 1994 and 1995.
