The Honor’s Convocation added a new award titled the Adjunct Faculty Teaching Excellence Award and it was presented to Fine Arts Professor, Cassandre Maxwell. Adeline Bethany, Chairperson of the Fine Arts Department, nominated Maxwell because she has “contributed significantly to the stability and quality of the art program.”

Maxwell has been apart of the Fine Arts faculty for 20 years and has been able to provide assistance to the department whenever it was needed. According to Bethany, Maxwell has been “a largely unseen force impacting on the lives of Cabrini students both the Fine Arts and Education disciplines.”

“She is always very concerned with her students and the work they do. I enjoyed having her as a professor for Creative Arts because it gave me a new appreciation for art,” Steff Ciarrochi, a junior special education/elementary education, said.

The Honors Convocation took place April 2 at the Dixon Center and Maxwell was unable to attend. Her award will be presented to her this month at the meeting of the faculty.

Students as well as professors received special awards at the Honors Convocation. The Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges were given to Lisa Esposito, Jessica Leahy and Dolores Tornambe. Jenna Lewandowski, a junior English/communication major, received the Renee Spellman Award.
