The Cabrini 2010 field hockey team has been conditioning in order to defend their CSAC champion title. The team came back with a healthy amount of returners and a solid freshman class of six players.
“This is a new season with a lot of talent. Everyone is starting like they are back on the bench now and they have to push hard this week to earn their place,” Jackie Neary, head coach, said.
The field hockey team lost only two seniors from last year. The rest of the team remembers last season and wants to repeat it.
“Last year was epic. We weren’t the favorites going into the season because the year before we lost it at the end. We did the unexpected and we proved to everyone that it could happen. Now we are just working for a repeat,” Allie Rodolico, senior defenseman, said.
Last year the field hockey team started off the season in a rough patch. Then the team then turned their season around when it came to the conference games. One of the outstanding accomplishments of the team was the fact that they beat The College of New Jersey 0-1 in regulation time.
“We usually go into the TCNJ game not expecting anything much. Last year we just played our game and we caught them off guard. It was one of the highlights of the season. We are pretty superstitious of this season. You will frequently hear at practice do whatever you did last year do again, because it worked,” Cait Donohue, senior goalkeeper, said.
