A malicious threat was made to Cabrini College sophomore Suzanne Capece on Saturday, Sept. 27. According to a the Radnor township police report, Public Safety called the Radnor police requesting assistance for an unknown problem outside of Xavier Hall. The officer was informed that a male, who is not a Cabrini student, was accused of harassing Capece and her boyfriend, sophomore Ryan Cox.

Director of Public Safety Charlie Schaffner said that the male accused of harassing Capece and Cox is 19-year-old Austin Barr, an ex-boyfriend of Capece’s.

The police report stated that a voice mail message was left for Cox stating, “I could have you shot.” After getting no response from Capece, Barr and girlfriend Stephanie Berry, also 19, and two other friends, who also do not attend Cabrini, decided to drive to campus to resolve the issue. The threat was made at 6 p.m., and they arrived on campus at 9:30 p.m.

According to the police report, while en route to Cabrini, Barr sent several messages saying that he was coming and “to watch your back.” “Barr said he was going to kill her and someone else,” Schaffner said. It was also reported by Schaffner that Capece had been threatened by a friend of Berry’s. According to the police report, Barr stated that he came to campus to resolve the issue of the threats since they were not answering their phones and to confront them.

After Radnor police read several of the text messages on Capece’s cell phone, Barr was taken into custody by Radnor police officer Patrick Murphy and was later released. “Radnor police did a great job in response to our needs,” Schaffner said. Cox and Capece were unavailable for comment.
