It’s not looking too good for the defending Super Bowl champs the Philadelphia Eagles. After back to back loses the Eagles can not seem to break their losing streak.

The Eagles coming into this season being highly favored by many to repeat as Super Bowl champions. After their many recent loses fans are now beginning to question the team’s competitive nature. Many fans are not understanding why the Eagles are suffering late games loses.

“The Philadelphia Eagles are a very young team, not only the players but the coaching staff,” Billy Purcell, Eagles fan, said. “They lack veteran leadership and I think that’s what we have to bring before the trade deadline.”

Fans can’t decide whether it is the defense or offense throwing away tightly contested games. The Eagles defense is supposed to be ranked one of the best defenses in the NFL. Their offense also supposed to be among league’s best after getting Carson Wentz back after his gruesome injury.

Carson Wentz and returning head coach Doug Pederson do not seem to be on the same page with late game decisions.

Wentz is very uneasy and indecisive in the pocket and when it comes to play making in late game situations. As the world all witnessed Sunday, Oct. 21, against Cam Newton and the Carolina Panthers, Carson Wentz seemed to be very nervous on his last late game drive. This lead the Eagles to go on and blow a 17-point lead in the fourth quarter. Wentz and the Eagles led the game all the way into the fourth quarter and still found a way to fall asleep and lose.

Cam Newton completely disrespected the Eagles defense scoring back to back touchdowns with a sugary desert of a 2-point conversion to bury the birds completely. The Eagles are a very good football team and have yet to show this, this year.

There is panic within the defense and running game with the Eagles.

“They need to work on their defense and get a running back,” Kevin McAteer, junior criminology major, said.

Losing Darren Sproles is definitely hurting the Eagles as he wasn’t just a running back but more of a do it all kind of player

Not only is there panic with the running game but there’s panic in the defense as well. The defense is crumbling and they may need to make adjustments before the trade deadline is out and they need to act quick before the season gets away from them.
