The type of careers this minor would prepare you for are conventions, corporate meetings, programs, concerts and ceremonies. This minor is specifically designed for undergraduates who are interested in learning how to lead and manage events

Dr. Dawn Francis, communication chairperson, is in charge of this new minor and says that the goals for this minor are to increase brand awareness, introduce a new product or service to market, raise funds for a notable cause, honor donors, benefactors and much more.

“This minor has an interdisciplinary business, leadership, marketing communication and experience design focus,” Francis said about the new minor. Francis says that the new minor is supported by each of the departments in Cabrini’s School of Business, Arts, and Media.

“Very often, corporate and academics jobs require the planning and execution of events. Thus, everyone can benefit from introduction to event management,” Francis said.

“I would very much be interested in taking the new event management minor,” Morgan Sorgini, a sophomore education major said. Sorgini says that she loves planning events.

“If it will help me plan events in the future and be a part of an amazing project, I would love to try the new minor,” said Sorgini about the new minor. She says that event management will help her organization and planning skills.

Alexis Sharp, sophomore early childhood education major, explained that she would very much be interested in taking an event management minor.

“I love planning events, especially for good causes,” Sharp said. “I think this is a very good minor. It helps people build planning and leadership skills. You could do a lot with this minor and be involved in some really great events in the future.”

Any student can take the event management minor. The last course you will take for the minor will be an on-campus internship-like experience where students take everything they have learned in the minor and apply it to managing an event on-campus.
