Opening day at the ballpark

There's few better ways to spend a Monday afternoon then skipping a class and driving into the city for a baseball game. I bought a 10-dollar ticket online for the standing room only section. Then, I threw some folding chairs in the trunk. The only thing left was picking up a case of beers on the way and we had the makings of a wonderful Monday afternoon at the ballpark.

Fake ID’s: Saving excitement

The great age of 21 is something those underage long for and elders dream about. The legal drinking age seems to get further away as the anticipated date arrives. The anticipation however has dwindled over the years. The technological advances in computers and digital photography allow throngs of minors to cross the boundary into the bar scene.

NCAA to enter March Madness

The NCAA tournament championship is a dream for most and a reality for few, but the spectacle of hope for the underdog is enough to spark at least a few first round upsets, and for some teams that is their championship. Selection Sunday has come and gone and the National Collegiate Athletic Association men's basketball tournament is underway.

Coach, team’s final game

Cabrini says farewell The regular season ended with Cabrini and Neumann each taking one game of a two game series. Neumann won its home game in the final minutes and the Cavaliers won in the same fashion setting the scene for what would be the third meeting and yet another epic battle Cabrini's home court advantage proved to be more than the Knights could handle.

Exposing the real Santa Claus

Santa's coming to town. Christmas is the best time of year to be a kid, a kid still believing in old St. Nick of course. It's a time of giving and family but I can still remember those nights before Christmas when you wanted to go to sleep so bad just so you could wake up and tear through some presents.

Eagles fan culture

The National Football League season consists of 17 weeks and 16 games. The Philadelphia Eagles started the season winning its first seven games, the best start in franchise history. Eagles fans have routines they go through on game days either as superstition or out of habit.

America’s pastime rejuvenated

What once was America's pastime was changed into another product of our nations commercialism. That is until the American League Championship Series and the atmosphere of postseason baseball rejuvenated the American spirit in baseball that has been missing for years.

Body image

How far would you go to look like a celebrity? That is the question MTV's reality television show, "I Want A Famous Face" provokes. The show is basically about teens having plastic surgery in an attempt to look like their favorite celebrities. The show may just be another reality show to some people but the number of teens getting plastic surgery keeps increasing.

Men’s soccer; undefeated in last three games

Starting off the season winless in its first two games, the Cabrini men's soccer team has now gone undefeated in its last three matches. Losing to Swarthmore College and DeSales University by a goal a piece, the Cavaliers won their next two games against California Technical Institute and Alvernia College.

Be aware at the ER

I recently paid a visit to Bryn Mawr Hospital Emergency Ward where I was treated for back spasms. My mother was at school to visit me, so she was able to drive me to the hospital, as I was unable to get out of bed by myself. I'm not quite sure how the back pain came about but its probably because of the mattress provided by Cabrini, which unless you have a special construction of egg crates and bed pads you won't get a good nights sleep.

The National Basketball Association has displayed to the world that these top dollar players are overmatched in national competition. Countries across the world send its best players to represent their nation. This year the United States sent the best that they could get.

The Philly Curse

The city of Philadelphia is in dire need of a championship. The last championship from any Philadelphia sports team came in 1983 when the Sixers won the National Basketball title. Since then the city has seen their share of heartbreaking losses. The Eagles as we all well know have made it to the conference championship in three consecutive seasons and lost.

The flu season has just about come and gone, but they are still other illnesses that can be contracted. Live a little

Garfield once said, "You can only be young once, but you can be immature forever." College is a time when most people come to find out who they really are by defining and shaping what really matters to them. This is where problems arise because we have a separation between those people who are still living the same lives the way they have always lived without thought to consequence or regret, and we have those people who have crossed into maturity or think they have.

Yankees catch league MVP

Alex Rodriguez will now be wearing pinstripes. The Yankees recently acquired baseballs most valuable player to fill their need for a third basemen. Most teams ,when losing someone like Aaron Boone at third base, would be tight for cash to get a player of that caliber for replacement, but not the Yanks.
