I cannot wait until Christmas vacation! Family, friends, sleeping in, holiday shopping, gifts, good food and of course, no school! Can it get any better? Not in my eyes. And it's just days away. I go Christmas shopping almost every day before the actual holiday and the crowds never put me in a bad mood.

Graham a defensive anchor to championship team

Seniors honored in shutout over Gwynedd-Mercy

Cabrini seniors and the rest of the men's soccer team defeated Gwynedd-Mercy, 3-0 on Saturday, Nov. 1. Not only did the Cavaliers win, but recognized the talented seniors who have given their all throughout the season for senior day. Before the game, seniors were announced and awarded with a framed black jersey as well as allowing parents to take pictures across the field with their senior.

Jer Coons: new face to pop music

Singer and songwriter of "Legs," "Speak" and "Girl in My Head" visited Cabrini for a free mini concert hosted by CAP Board. The pop/rock musician Jer Coons sang his heart out to the audience with original songs from his CD and also Beatles song, "Something.

Pete Schmidt: simple beat, new talent

The multi-talented singer/songwriter/guitarist Pete Schmidt entertained his small, but intimate audience with songs of relationships, friendships and other personal experiences. Schmidt plans on going big one day after performing with such leaders as John Mayer and Jason Mraz.

Open Mic Night hosts creative talents

Singers/songwriters, musicians, CAP Board, Cabrini choir and a giant crowd of more than 100 people filled the patio of Cabrini's mansion last Thursday night for Open Mic Night. CAP Board sponsored the night which was filled with entertainment and co-hosted by Cabrini's choir, who sold refreshments to raise money for a choir trip to Vienna, Austria.

Dude, where can I park my car?

Can Cabrini max out our parking anymore? Literally, you leave campus for 10 minutes to run to Wawa and come back and the closest spot is in the Dixon Center. And poor commuters, they have to make their own parking spots and pray they don't have a ticket or have been towed when they leave class.

Lady Cavs advance to quarterfinals

Two days of two-game sweeps by the Cabrini softball team puts them in playoff position. The Cavaliers swept the College of Notre Dame Gators off their feet with double-header wins; first game 11-0 and the second game 13-3. Then the Cavs defeated the Keystone College Giants, first game 3-2 and the second game 8-7.

Cavaliers winning streak rolls on

Cabrini men's lacrosse team stomped on CSAC competitor, Shenandoah University, with a score of 21-1 on Sat, April 18. The Cavaliers are on a season-best six- game winning streak. The game was played in Winchester, Va., where Cabrini extended the country's longest conference win streak to 84 games, including the postseason.

Senior builds impressive batting resume

First-team All-PAC and PAC All-Academic are just two of the awards Cabrini's softball third basemen Kristie Sandefur has received. Sandefur, senior psychology major, has been a major part of the softball team for four years. In 2008, Sandefur was named PAC Homerun Champion and PAC RBI Champion in 2008.

Wolfington director nominated for award

David Chiles, director of the Wolfington Center, was nominated as one of six finalists for Campus Compact's first Leadership Award for Campus and Community Engagement. The Wolfington Center is Cabrini's community outreach center. Chiles was nominated not only for his work in the Wolfington Center, but also for his work as Cabrini's coordinator of Service Learning Resources.

Abstinence is a rare form of birth control in today's society. There are still many schools and individuals who preach it, but let's face it, Cabrini would be wasting its time. Colleges should not have to teach abstinence, but should offer methods of birth control.

While we are purchasing that gas, we are polluting our environment and adding to the ongoing global warming predicament. Why are automakers taking so long to create the perfect vehicle? The North American International Auto Show in Detroit this year is holding a showcase of automobiles from around the world; many focusing on energy efficiency.

Jillian Smith: Web Master

Energetic and entertaining Jillian Smith, or Jill, is one of the voices of WYBF FM, Cabrini's radio station. She is more than a radio personality, but a hardworking and successful student all around. Smith is a senior English and communication major. She has taken the role as web master for the radio station, which performs tasks including updating music charts, weekly events and photos, as well as creating new pages, logos, and sections on the website to make it better.
