Editorial: America and the Big Turkey

Gobble, Gobble, Gobble. The turkey goes gobble. The time for giving thanks is upon the American people; the American people who gobble-up every form of energy, space, and material good in sight. America, however, would not be America if we did not gobble so much.

Editorial: Government’s information accessibility still stirring criticism

The average Cabrini email account consists of messages from various campus offices. Advertising emails about cell-phone deals and future job positions also pile-up one after another, sometimes arriving quicker than we can delete. Some of the messages catch our attention while others are not even given the chance to be opened.

Editorial: Success–and truth–elusive in Iraq

The death toll for American soldier casualties in Iraq and Afghanistan has just reached 2,000. Sadly, the number will surpass 2,000, and there is no clear answer as to when this number will cease growing. 2,000 mothers, fathers, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters have been lost, yet the insurgency aggressively continues.

Editorial: Cutting A’s causing a craze

Princeton University has stirred much controversy cutting down the number of A's given to its student body. The "A-slashing" is part of Princeton's new grading initiative started in Apr. of 2004. The policy had an original goal of reducing the percentage of students receiving A's from 55 percent to 35 percent.

Cabrini alumna paints picture of New Orleans after Katrina

Below is a letter from a former Cabrini student and New Orleans native, Ashlee Lensmyer, to Associate Professor of English Dr. Seth Frechie. Lensmyer recently survived the devastation of Hurricane Katrina. Although the Loquitur has covered this disaster as best as possible, it is difficult to relay the true impact of Hurricane Katrina better than this letter from a fellow member of the Cabrini community: Dr. Frechie, I just wanted to send you an update. My family and I have gotten two 2-bedroom apartments in Alexandria, La., until further notice. We went to my house about five days ago and it was quite possibly one of the most depressing things I have seen and I never thought I would actually say that I didn't want to be at home. The darker days of Catholic schools

Where will you send your child to school? Chances are that that question, at this stage in many of your lives, has never crossed your mind. The thought of having kids is probably just as far off. For many of you, however, that question will lead to one of the most significant choices you make as a parent.

Editorial: Continue to grow with SEM 300 and Is Loquitur Irrelevant?

Continue to grow with SEM 300 The essentials of life cannot be learned in a classroom. Book smarts do not mean much in many real-life situations, it is up to experience and education learned outside of the classroom that prepares people for life. Cabrini, realizing that fact, devised the SEM 300 course.

Editorial:

Throughout this semester The Loquitur has been busy trying to keep its readers current with any new information surrounding "America's New War," or whatever you would like to call it. After the Sept. 11 attacks patriotism seemed to skyrocket. If you wanted to buy a flag, you were out of luck because the stores were all sold out.
