Hip-hop speaks up

Hip-hop's slogan "Vote or Die" has taken America's youth to a while new level. Gearing the campaign toward youth, voting seems to be the number one focus of rap stars. With continuous ads and appearances, it seems that voters 18 - 24 will play a major impact on who wins this years presidential election.

Student awarded 2nd place in contest

Judeann Armenti represented Cabrini at the Penn State Abington Undergraduate English Conference entitled, "Texts, Media and Culture Literacy in the 21st century." Her non-fiction accomplishment "Holey T-Shirts" was recently awarded 2nd place in the Delta Epsilon Sigma Undergraduate writing contest.

Memories of the game

Is it me or is pro-basketball not the same anymore? I remember back in the 90's when these players put on a show. Remember when Jordan used to perform and score 30 points in a game? It was a lot of excitement. Players used to play as a team and make the crowds go insane.

The city without closing hours

Let's face it guys and gals, Philadelphia is a city that has many attractions and they have a nightlife that ends generally at 2 a.m. Hence, taking a two hour trip to New York City, where the nightlife ends in the morning and the attractions are greater, would be more exciting.

Falling out of love with Valentine’s Day

With Valentine's Day on its way, one would think people would have already made permanent plans. This year, many couples are very indecisive about their plans. The traditional candy and flower routine seems like the thing of the 20th Century. Are people falling out of love with Feb.

Girls and guys opt for disguise at winter formal

Cabrini's annual winter formal will be held on Saturday, Feb. 21st. This year, the theme is a Masquerade Ball and it will take place in the Grand Ball Room of the Renaissance Hotel in Philadelphia. Sponsored by the Student Government Association, the tickets cost $40, which includes the space for the hotel, the meal, dessert, snacks, decorations, advertisement, as well as the DJ so you can dance.

Cancun is no longer the only spring

When spring break is mentioned, college students usually talk about Cancun. Well, that was back in the mid to late '90s. The new generation after the millennium, now find reasonable, all inclusive exotic places to enjoy that week of complete freedom. Collegians now look for more "outside of the box" type of vacation spots to benefit the pleasures of free-will and sun.

Students working on shedding winter weight

Summer is on the way and getting in shape is a goal every year for people. Yet, Spring Break is even closer for college students and time is ticking. Being at a disadvantage already, coming off from the holidays, Cabrini students are rigorously going to the gym in efforts to shed some pounds and get fit.

Sophomore has succesful season

The woman's tennis team made second place this year in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference, and players like Carrie Kauffman played a tremendous role in helping out. Sophomore tennis player Kauffman is no rookie to the game of tennis. Her skills and talents brought out of Cardinal O' Hara helps her team as well as herself to adjust to the transition of college tennis.

The saying, "you can't teach old dogs new tricks," must be wrong because the Cabrini women's tennis team certainly learned something new, and that was to destroy rival Eastern University, which has not been accomplished in a long time. It was a grand season for the Lady Cavs as they finished 2nd place in the Pennsylvania Athletic Conference tournament with an overall 14-3 record, just behind Marywood.
