Phillies split doubleheader with Marlins On Tuesday Sept. 22, despite striking out 16 times and going 2 for 11 with runners in scoring postion, the Phillies walked away with a 9-3 win to take the first game of their doubleheader with the Florida Marlins. Joe Blanton outpitched Marlins ace Josh Johnson and gave up two hits in seven shutout innings.

This academic year marks the 50th anniversary of the Loquitur, which was founded in 1959. Loquitur has developed into a nationally recognized college publication. Media, newspapers and technology have changed dramatically over the past five decades and the Loquitur has progressed along with the times.

Men capture second straight festival title; Lady Cavs go 1-1

Cabrini College men's and women's soccer teams hosted the annual Cabrini College Soccer Festival on Friday Sept. 4 and Saturday Sept. 5 at the Edith Robb Dixon Field. The men stayed perfect in the tournament capturing their second straight title while the women went 1-1 on weekend.

Or do you reject or accept anything Obama says? Well health care is something that students in college should pay attention to, because when we graduate, figuring out our own health care will be one of our first post-college dilemmas.

World Series Ring stolen Philadelphia police have now released that the case of the missing 3.84 karat World Series ring a theft. At first, police did not want to label the ring as stolen because it could have possibly been picked up by a stranger who was planning to turn it in.

Skin cancer on the rise

Each hour one person dies of skin cancer. Ninety percent of all skin cancer is caused by sun exposure. Skin cancer accounts for more than 50 percent of all cancer. More than one million new cases of skin cancer will be diagnosed this year. Unless skin cancer has touched your life in some way, you may not know of its severity and prevalence.

Drinking and forgetting costly consequences

I wasn't even a week into my freshman year before I got written up for the first time. Actually I wasn't even two nights deep into my freshman year. It was the third night that I learned how the infamous Cabrini College disciplinary system worked. After two nights of meeting people and doing not much of anything my roommates and I decided it was time to make the best of our first week away at college.

Matriculation liturgy ceremony welcomes freshmen

The class of 2013 was formally enrolled as members of the Cabrini College community at this year's annual Matriculation Liturgy, which was held on Thursday, Aug. 20 in the Dixon Center. New students and their families and friends gathered to celebrate the beginning of their college careers.

S3 kicks off second year

For the second year incoming freshman at Cabrini College got the opportunity to participate in a pre-orientation program called S3. This stands for service, spirituality and solidarity. Last year during its pilot, 55 students participated. The class of 2013 had almost 100 students participate.

Editorial: Reduce adjuncts, increase full-time faculty

Loquitur believes that our administration needs to reduce the number of adjuncts and increase the number of fulltime professors to benefit its students.

We are the world

On Friday, Feb. 12 the world watched as the 2010 Winter Olympics opening ceremony was broadcast on television in countries near and far. This worldwide competition, which occurs every four years, provides a chance for the world's top athletes to compete against one another in a variety of events.

Blizzard blasts Cabrini

During the past two weeks and throughout the past few months, snow has been pounding the Philadelphia area, making it the snowiest winter this region has ever seen. ?Most students were brought back to the good old days of childhoods past, anticipating snow days and playing in the snow, some spending their time relaxing in the warmth of their dorm rooms or homes.

When Haiti was hit with tragedy the Cabrini community knew that something had to be done. In just a few days after the earthquakes many events were organized around campus to help raise money for relief efforts. The day for Haiti resulted in over $2,100 raised, which was donated directly to Catholic Relief Services.

Provost search resumes

Over the past few years Cabrini has seen many changes in academics and administration. Last year we welcomed Dr. George as our seventh president and saw our core curriculum become re-energized by establishing the Justice Matters initiative. The college is still transitioning into a new phase as it searches for a new provost and vice president for academic affairs.

Cavs conquer Eagles in ‘Battle of Eagle Road’

The Cabrini Men's basketball team toped cross-street-rival Eastern University 80-71 in the "Battle of Eagle Road," on Wednesday, Jan. 27. The win helped the Cavs extend their win streak to 10 games. Kevin Misevicius led Cabrini with an impressive 33 points, four assists, four steals and three rebounds on the night.

Additional parking a necessary expense

Around campus you hear students discussing various aspects of Cabrini that they would like to see changed. One that seems to come up time after time is the parking situation. The Loquitur editorial staff feels that we need to get the conversation started about this issue on the administrative level.

Devastation in Haiti not to be forgotten

It has been just over three weeks since tragedy struck Haiti. More than 150,000 have died and just under 200,000 are injured. As Americans looking in on the devastation Haiti is experiencing we need to take action and educate those around us who don't understand the situation.

Cabrini captures win at the Garden

Madison Square Garden has been said to be one of the world's most famous arenas. As soon as you enter, you can feel the presence of the teams who have played there, the performers who have drawn thousands and the history that has been made over decades of games and performances.

Take a stand for Haiti

The death toll is predicted to reach 200,000 in Haiti. The country, which is smaller than Maryland, is home to nearly 10 million people, 80 percent of whom are living below the poverty line. Most Haitians live on just two dollars a day, making it the poorest country in the western hemisphere.
