Going into the 2019-2020 athletic season for the Cavaliers, all teams have high expectations and try to reach that ultimate success that men’s lacrosse team in winning the national championship. Cabrini has three teams ranked number one to win the Atlantic East Conference.

“We were surprised that by the rankings knowing that Neumann won our conference last year.” Head coach Rob Dallas said. “So, we are thankful for the recognition. However, being number one comes with a higher target on our backs. All we can do is set a high bar every practice and game and go out looking to live up to being number one in the conference.”

Men’s soccer starts off the year 2-2 and looks to break even Wednesday, September 11 at Rutgers Camden.

Women’s soccer had high hopes last year but fell short to Immaculata. They still were able to get the number one ranking going into this year’s season.

“We appreciate the honor of being number one and having that respect from everyone in our conference,” Assistant coach Brittany Runyan said. “However, we don’t even look that deep into it. We were number one last year and fell short, so we just go out every day to compete and get better. We use being number one as a motivator to try to prove that we deserve this ranking.” The Woman Cavaliers are 3-1 to start the season and look to keep up this hot start on the 14th when they play Washington College (MD).

The volleyball team looked very promising last year, but fell to Marymount in the championship finals.

“Us being number 1 gave us motivation for the season knowing that even though we lost to Marymount,” hitter Steph Judkins said.  “The conference still believed we were the best. Going into the season though we practice and prepare no differently. Still go out to compete and try to beat every team no matter where we are ranked.”

Judkins went into the season needing a few more kills to be named the sixth person to reach 1,000 kills in program history. The Lady Cavs head to the Messiah tournament Friday, September 14 where they will be facing #2 ranked Calvin college.

A lot of high expectations for our fall Cavalier sports. Each team is prepared and ready to fight to show that they belong at the top.
