Summoned by the smell of brownies, Cabrini students and staff gathered in the mansion to meet the new president of of Cabrini College, Dr. Donald Taylor, and his family. Many students who are highly involved on campus took the opportunity to introduce themselves and make a connection with the man who will be running the school.

Each person who attended received an individual greeting as Taylor shook the hand of everyone who arrived. They were given the chance to not only get to know him, but provide the reasons that keep Cabrini close to their hearts. Seniors were well represented, showing that although they will be graduating, their attachment to their school sparked their curiosity to make sure it would be left in good hands.

Active minds president Madeline Coutu shared that she was attending the event to begin building the relationship between Taylor and the club she is the leader of. “It’s important to meet the people who are running your school, to see where their values align with yours and what you can to do to work together,” said Coutu.

Many of the students took notice of Taylor’s strong student focus and shared excitement looking toward the future initiatives that he has spoken about putting in place. When speaking with students Taylor seemed to have done his research on Cabrini and the school’s core values, impressing his audience with a list of focal points that he plans to improve upon.

Secretary of the Student Government Association senior class board, Cali Brown, had previously met Taylor during the interview process in the search for the new president. Brown shared that one of the most encouraging items on his resume was his previous place of employment.

When Taylor explained the last school he had the pleasure of working at, he stressed that it had a strong resemblance to Cabrini. Brown found that his success with the prior college was a great look into Taylor’s future advancements at Cabrini.

Senior psychology major Dyamond Gleaves had a reason different from many other the other attendees that were interviewed. “Dr. Taylor is the first male president we’ve had. He breaks the the all-female chain that we have had in the past,” said Gleaves.

It is evident that the people who showed up to the brownie social had very important and passionate reasons for attending. Being an active member in the Cabrini community can only help you have a more enriching and rewarding experience.
