Eagles earn top spot in NFC East

Eagles jump into first place in the NFC East after beating the NY Giants on Nov. 21, 2010. With a 21-17 victory, the Eagle can now claim the lead in the NFC. Quarterback Michael Vick put on a good performance but running back LeSean McCoy carried the Eagle offense later down the stretch.

It was not a scoring match like last week’s game against the Washington Redskins. Tonight’s winning team had to focus on being patience and making the right plays at the right time. Vick understood what it would take to carry the team to a victory.

“You’ve just got to stay patient,” Vick said. “It’s a crazy game. At times, you feel like you’re going to have a heart attack out there.” The quote posted by The Pittsburgh Tribune.

McCoy had a lot of success this game to carry his team to the top of the NFC East but he doesn’t take full credit for his accomplishment. He recognizes the amount of hard work the rest of the offense put out on the field that night.

“Mike did a great job maintaining the snap. The guys up front did a great job,” McCoy said. “It was a tough game. Each game, from here on out, will be like that,” posted by The Pittsburgh Tribune.

Vick completed 24 of 38 passes with a total of 258 yards and a rushing touchdown to put the Eagles up 7-0 in the first quarter. McCoy ran for 111 yards along with a 50 yard rushing touchdown in the late fourth quarter.

It was a battle back and forward all night at the Lincoln Financial Field but like always, Vick and the Eagles found a way to get the job done on both the offensive and defensive teams. This victory makes it a five- time winning streak against the NY Giants in their past meetings.

Eagles now take on the first place NFC North team, Chicago Bears on Sunday, Nov. 28. The Eagles have been on a 3 game winning streak since Vick’s return. They hope to continue with the consistent effort throughout the rest of their tough schedule.
