Cabrini athletics had quite a day on CSAC championship Saturday. All four teams that competed in a CSAC Championship game came away victorious.

The first game of the day was women’s soccer taking on Gwynedd Mercy University at Editth Robb Dixon Field. The game was a defensive struggle as Cabrini earned a 1-0 victory. Senior midfielder Katelyn Cooper was named the MVP of the contest, scoring the game’s only goal. Cabrini women’s soccer has now won the last five CSAC championships.

While the women’s soccer match was ongoing, the field hockey team was on the road at Gwynedd Mercy. Senior forward Tiffany Phillips opened up the scoring with a goal in the 30th minute, assisted by sophomore midfielder Jackie Neary. Senior midfielder Jen Webb followed that up with the second goal of the game in the 44th minute, assisted by junior defender Kylie McDevitt.

That was all the team needed, winning with a final of 2-1. Sophomore goaltender Taylor Bookman was named the MVP with eight saves. Cabrini has now faced off with Gwynedd Mercy in the CSAC championship game six years in a row. Today was the Lady Cavs first CSAC championship win since 2010.

The men’s soccer team was in the CSAC championship game for first time since 2012. They did not disappoint. The Cavaliers defeated the visiting team, Marywood University, by a score of 2-1.

Junior forward Bobby Kane scored the first goal of the game in the 15th minute, assisted by sophomore midfielder Paolo Chavarria. Freshman midfielder Jared Irwin scored the second goal for Cabrini in the 51st minute, assisted again by Chavarria. Junior goalkeeper C.J. Serratore only allowed one goal with 12 saves in the match. Marywood has now finished runner-up in five of the last six CSAC championship games.
