Upcoming events to provide career tips, recreation, diversity talks, more

Philly Ad Club

Students from the Philadelphia region will be gathering on Oct. 28 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Temple University for lessons in creating their own brand.  Hosted by the Philly Ad Club, the Personal Branding Boot Camp is free and covers multiple must-have tools for today’s job-hunting.  These tools include not only resumes and cover letters, but also networking both in person and online.

Students who wish to attend must register on http://www.PhillyAdClub.com to get expert advice from professionals in the communications field.  The event will be held in room 105 of the Tuttleman Learning Center, located on 13th St. in Philadelphia.

Blood Drive

This semester’s American Red Cross blood drive will be held at Grace Hall on Friday, Oct. 29, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.  Those who wish to donate blood can register online at http://www.membersforlife.org, or by contacting Joanne Mattioni at Cabrini Health Services.  Mattioni can be reached by phone at 610-902-8531, or by email at jm753@cabrini.edu

to schedule a donation appointment.  Donors will be able to set up appointment times 15 minutes apart throughout the day.

Outdoor Rock Climbing

Members of the Cabrini community will have a chance to experience outdoor rock climbing from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30.  Prices vary for current students ($30), faculty and staff ($50) and alumni ($60).  It costs $70 for the general public.  Registration for the event closed on Friday, Oct. 15. However those who signed up in time are looking forward to rock climbing.

Graduate Student Registration

Graduate students can register for Spring 2011 classes on Monday, Nov. 1, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The Amazing Race:  Surviving Finals

An academic success event, “The Amazing Race: Surviving Finals,” will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 2, from 7 to 8 p.m.  Located in the 2nd floor lounge of the East Residence Hall, the event is free and provides study tips to help get through finals week.

Students will be able to focus on subjects of concern if they wish, as well as create study plans to avoid cramming.  They can also expect to take from this event, information on how to make the most of their study times for the best grades.

Donuts & Diversity

Discussions on topics of diversity will be held in the Library Conference Room on Wednesday, Nov. 3, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.  Students can talk about today’s important social issues over donuts made available at the event.  “Donuts & Diversity” is a regular event with talks focusing on topics such as race, religion, ethnicity, nationality and LGBT.  Diversity discussions are presented by the Office of Student Diversity and open to all members of the Cabrini community.
