  1. Best Multimedia Feature Website 2012 to Senior Honors Convergence students for YouthVoicesRise.com
  2. Philadelphia Ad Club. Scholarship to  Laura Hancq 2012, Loquitur editor in chief.
  3. Kelsey Kastrava for 3 Loquitur articles on Sudan independence. 2011 Chandler Award for Student Writer of the Year in Religion

  6. The 2011 Gold Circle Awards for Newspapers Elizabeth Krupka and Alyssa Mentzer. In-depth news/feature story: “War, rape fueled by our phones, computers.” This story originated with a visit by two CRS representatives from the Congo in summer 2010. Alyssa and Liz did extensive reporting with rape counselors in the Congo, New York Times reporters and other participants in the passing of the Dodd-Frank Bill, which regulates the use of conflict minerals in American technology devices, like smart phones.  2nd place.
  7. Kelsey Kastrava. Personality Profile. “Young refugees ‘lost’ and found in local woman’s home.” This story profiles a local woman who took in and raised several “Lost Boys of Sudan.” 3rd place.
  8. Kelsey Kastrava. Editorial writing for “Homeless deserve more than just a casual glance.” 2nd Certificate of Merit.
  9. Best of Festival King Foundation Award, Broadcast Education Association Festival of Media Arts, Two Year/Small Colleges – 
”Road of Insecurity: The Global Food Crisis,” Gillian Davis, Caitlin Friel, and Mallory Terrence. This documentary also won these awards: Finalist, College Broadcasters, Inc. Awards, Best Radio Documentary; Winner, 2009 Silver Davey Award; Winner, Philadelphia College Air Awards, Best Radio Documentary;

  13. “Our Hands Are Not Tied,” the audio documentary produced by students in SEM 300 in cooperation with WYBF, continues to win national and regional awards:
    • Communicator Award of Excellence in two professional (not scholastic) categories: Public Affairs & Social Issues
    • College Broadcasters Inc. National Production Competition: Finalist.
    • Society of Professional Journalists: 3rd Place

  18. Video students and professor produced a video on Peacebuilding in Gaza, which was used as part of two Global Solidarity Network sessions on peacebuilding. Fall 2008. Seen by 600 students at 5 universities.
  19. Philly Ad Club 2009 “Philly’s Future” Scholarship Winners to Loquitur editors Meghan Smith and Mallory Terrence.
  20. Collegiate Keystone Press Award Honorable Mention to Jillian Smith for Loquitur article, “Side-By-Side with Africa”
  21. 2008 Meghan Hurley and Amanda Finnegan. The Egan Award for Journalistic Excellence recognizes journalists who demonstrate excellence in reporting on humanitarian and social justice issues. The awards are judged by an independent, expert panel from the secular media that is knowledgeable on issues pertaining to the developing world. Category: Series from a Publication with Regional/Local Circulation.
  22. 2007 Associated Collegiate Press Pacemaker award, considered the Pulitzer Prize for college journalism, to the Loquitur in the category of Best Non-daily College and University Newspaper in the country. Loquitur was one of 18 selected. Amanda Finnegan ’08, editor in chief.

  26. 2008 First Place News Series, to Loquitur editors Meghan Hurley ’07, Elizabeth Brachelli ’07 & Katherine Brachelli ’07, Elizabeth Lavin ’09, Jamie Hufnagle ’09, and Ashley Cook ’09 , for stories localizing global human rights issues, presented by the national honor society for students in mass communication, the Society for Collegiate Journalists.

  38. Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia awarded a Communication scholarship to Kelly Moorehead ’09 for the 2007-2008 academic year.
