Working with Bethesda Project, a shelter in the lower north section of Philadelphia that provides a temporary home for around 200 men, Panetta and her students offered homeless shelter residents a photography class as part of a healing arts project.

Our negligence to homeless people along with the negative stigma attached to those sleeping beneath city bridges contributes to the common belief that we should only help ourselves, because we’re all capable of attaining success on our own. Loquitur hopes that through courses like these Engagement In the Common Good classes, people can become more exposed to the reality of the situation

Speaking during class was hard for Sherwin to do, but his struggle made the class understand the lessons that could be learned about judging the homeless without first knowing their story.
